Press Release #4, May 8th 2008
Information on payment plan for supporting members
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Our payment plan is a way to spread out the cost of your membership over time while locking it in at a low early registration rate.
STEP 1. Buy a Supporting Membership. If you voted in site selection for the 2007 Worldcon, you already have a Supporting Membership. While your Supporting Membership fee is not refundable, the membership may be transferred; if you do so, you will need to contact us with the name and address of the person you are transferring the membership to so that we may update our records.
STEP 2. Inform us (by email, snail-mail, or at a convention) that you wish to convert your Supporting Membership to an Attending Membership using our payment plan.
STEP 3. After your conversion has been processed, we will contact you to confirm your registration and inform of you of the deadline for the quarterly payments. We will also let you know what amount you still need to pay to complete your upgrade to an Attending Membership.
STEP 4. Send us a payment of no less than 10$ once every 3 months. More frequent payments are welcome. Failure to comply with the payment schedule will result in us canceling your payment plan. If your plan is cancelled, we will refund your payments (although not the initial cost of your Supporting Membership, which is nonrefundable). Your plan will also be cancelled if a cheque or credit-card payment is returned.
HOW TO PAY
Do not send cash in the mail. We will accept predated cheques or permission to charge your credit card quarterly. If you would prefer not to use your checking account or credit card, you can send an international postal order (if mailing from outside of Canada), or (within Canada) a Canadian postal order.
DEADLINES
The last payment (for a total of the complete Attending Membership price) must be postmarked or processed no later than Tuesday, March 31st, 2009.
If your last payment is not postmarked (or processed) by Tuesday, March 31st, 2009, your payment plan purchase will go towards paying the total cost of Attending Membership at our posted at-door rate. If this happens, we will contact you with the new cost of your Attending Membership and allow you to either cancel your payment plan or pay the difference at the door.
VOLUNTARY CANCELLATION
You can voluntarily cancel your installment plan at any time by contacting us by email or snail-mail. If you cancel your payment plan, Anticipation will refund the amount you paid towards the conversion; Supporting Memberships are not refundable. When an installment plan is cancelled, you have forfeited your right to convert at the locked-in price. A cancelled plan may not be resumed, and you may not start a new installment plan.
TRANSFERS
If you are using an installment plan to convert to an Attending Membership, you can still transfer your membership (including all paid installments) to another individual at any time. The person you transfer it to will be responsible for making the remaining payments as outlined above. If a plan is cancelled after you have made the transfer, any refund due will be sent to the new owner of the membership.
